“Tomorrow belongs to those of us who conceive of it as belonging to everyone; who lend the best of ourselves to it, and with joy.”

Community Resources

Over the past two years, We Belong in Jasper Place connected with residents, local groups, and community partners through conversations, interviews, and surveys. Together, we explored what belonging means in this community and how it can be strengthened.

Below you’ll find the reports and resources created along the way—capturing the voices, ideas, and wisdom that shaped this project.

While this phase of the initiative is wrapping up, we hope these insights will continue to support future efforts, inspire new projects, and serve as a foundation for building connection and belonging in Jasper Place for years to come.

Grant Process and Mapping Our Future Engagement

July 2024

With the grant projects now being finalized in mid-2024, we’re looking to the future of the We Belong in Jasper Place initiative.
The Stony Plain Road Business Association (the team behind We Belong in Jasper Place), has drafted two possible scenarios for how we think the remaining funds from the City of Edmonton could be used.

We asked community members what they thought about these scenarios as well as what else we should be thinking about when considering the options for the future of We Belong in Jasper Place. We also asked grant recipients for their feedback on the grant program. This report is a summary of that feedback.

Mapping Our Future

May 2024

We’re looking to the future and need your help to make the most of what’s left of the City of Edmonton funding that has made We Belong in Jasper Place possible. We've committed to the City of Edmonton that we will complete this phase of the project by May 2025, allowing the City to transition out of the initiative and us to potentially transition into something new with our community. We’ve drafted two possible scenarios for how we think the remaining funds from the City of Edmonton could be used. This resource shares more about what each of these scenarios might look like.

Projects for Belonging: Community Report Back

We created a grant program to support community members in developing pilot projects that worked towards boosting the community’s sense of belonging in the Jasper Place area. This resource summarizes the outcomes of the grant program, the process that went into gathering ideas for community projects and the process in which they were selected.

Defining Belonging In Jasper Place: What We Heard

We kicked off our community engagement in early 2023 to better understand how to make west central Edmonton more connected and welcoming. This resource summarizes what we heard during our community conversations from May–June 2023, and how we landed on belonging as the key focus for this initiative.
